I'm a tech plus, although the plus doesn't mean much since the morse code requirement was lifted in Feb 2007. I've been a ham since 1994, and although I have some old AM gear which needs a lot of restoration, I've never done much more than use 2 meters.
I used to do a lot of driving, upwards of 30,000 miles a year, and ham radio was great in the event of a break down, or even keeping track of the weather.
